M2B (Maximising Migration Benefits): Indonesian Migrant Workers from Security to Development
British Council Newton Fund Researcher Links Workshop: Jakarta, 24-26 August 2016
Professor Carol Tan (Law, SOAS) has been awarded £36,400 from the British Council Newton Fund’s Researcher Links Workshop Grant scheme to hold a workshop in partnership with Professor Sulistyowati Irianto of Universitas Indonesia. The grant will fund up to 20 researchers from UK institutions and 20 researchers from Indonesian institutions to participate in a workshop coordinated by SOAS and the Graduate School of Multidisciplinary Studies, Universitas Indonesia. The workshop will gather researchers and stakeholders from government, civil society and workers’ and migrants’ groups to develop policy, advocacy and services on health and wellbeing with a view to producing lasting development benefits for Indonesian migrant workers, their families and communities.

About the Newton Fund
The Newton Fund is a £375 million fund which, through science and innovation partnerships, is part of the United Kingdom’s official development assistance programme. The fund provides £75 million each year (from 2014 for five years).
