“IMPROVING QUALITY OF NURSING CARE THROUGH COMPETENCIES IN FACING GLOBALIZATION ERA”
Background
Nursing as a profession requires continued development to response the change of global needs across health system. Today, public demand to quality health service is increasing. On the other hand, globalizationopens opportunities fornursestocompete with other nurses and workabroad. The nurses should constantly improve their competency in providing excellent nursing care, so they do not left behind. The sustainability of education related to the latest science and nursing knowledge is very important for all nurses who are working in the clinic, community, and educational nursing system, to enhance their competencies. Along with the Universitas Airlangga vision to become a world class university, Faculty of Nursing,Universitas Airlangga participates actively brought into the ranks of world-class university, by organizing international scientific activities.
There are some problems such as low number of nursing scientific meeting, low number of nursing research, and low number of international publication of nursing research in Indonesia. Those problems might hamper the development and improvement of nursing care in Indonesia.
Based on the above phenomenon, it is important to disseminate latest strategyabout how to enhance nursing competencies with nurse colleagues in the international sphere. Faculty of Nursing,Universitas Airlangga, in cooperation with several institutions such as Flinders University, UTS, QUT, Avans Hogeschool, National Cheng Kung University, Chiang Mai University, Naresuan University, Kumamoto University,JICA, and Red Cross will hold a conference with the theme “Improving Quality of Nursing Care Through Competencies in Facing Globalization Area”.
