I hope this email finds you well, and that you are enjoying the Fall season!
As you know from my last email, we are recruiting applicants for 2012-2013. Thanks to those of you who have already sent people our way. Please continue referring qualified candidates to us. You can direct applicants to our website for an updated list of potential funding sources and for application materials (also attached). Please note that the estimated costs section of our application has been updated due to an increase in the NIH mandated requirement for support for J1 visiting scholars, and an increase in health insurance costs at Harvard.

We recently uploaded to our website the Takemi Program Report which includes information about our Program, and also includes research and publications by our most recent groups of Fellows. Please feel free to forward this document to candidates applying to our Program.
Additionally, we would like to add a “What Takemi Fellows Are Doing Now” section to our website. We may solicit short biographical sketches (250 words or less) from those of you who would like to be listed. Right now the thought is to make this information public on our website, but another thought was to make this visible only to a “closed group” (in which only Takemi Fellows and Alumni could interact more privately). We welcome your opinions on what might be best.
As always, when you have a moment, please examine the Alumni Contact information found on our website and provide any necessary updates to us so that we can keep this information as current as possible. Please also feel free to let us know of any promotions, interesting projects and activities, or publications you would like for us to share. (You are welcome to Friend us on Facebook and join the Takemi Program Facebook Group- instructions can be found on our Homepage.)
We are also happy to announce that Michael Reich’s Policymaker software is now available for download free of charge. This easy-to-use tool can help you analyze, understand, and create effective strategies to promote your point of view on any policy question or political issue. PolicyMaker provides step-by-step guidance to help you conduct a stakeholder analysis and design political strategies to support your policy.
Instructions on downloading:
· Your browser may ask you whether you want to “Save the File” or “Run” it. Choose “Save”.
· Unzip PolicyMaker4_331_4.zip, placing the files in an empty directory (copy the folder structure and files to an empty directory, or extract the files). Do NOT execute the setup.exe while it is still compressed.
· Be sure to create a new folder, put the zip file in it, unzip it, and then click on setup.exe
· Then, execute setup.exe.
· If you do not have the .NET package installed on your machine, you will be prompted to download and install it (from Microsoft’s site).
· Once Policymaker has been installed, it can be found as “PoliMap” as a Program when you go to the “Start” menu.
