INTERNATIONAL RURAL NURSING CONFERENCE

Rapid City, South Dakota:   July 19-21, 2016

Please join us in the scenic Black Hills of western South Dakota! The bi-annual International Rural Nursing Conference will be held July 19-21, 2016 in Rapid City, South Dakota. This conference will be led by the Matson Halverson Christiansen Hamilton Foundation (MHCH), South Dakota State University, and the University of South Dakota, in conjunction with the Rural Nursing Organization. This conference will follow in the tradition of previous rural nursing and health research conferences held most recently in Bozeman, Montana, USA; Binghamton, New York, USA; Sudbury, Ontario, Canada; and Albury, Australia. Nationally and internationally known researchers, practitioners, and educators from multiple disciplines whose focus is improving the health of rural people and communities will be participating. We hope to see all of you there!

Call for Applications: AuthorAID Gender Grants 2015

We’re pleased to announce a new set of grants related to gender. We plan to award the following grants to people working in eligible developing countries, following a competitive selection process.

  • 8 travel grants GBP (British Pounds) 1500: For researchers to use to present gendered research at a conference, or for attending a conference on the topic of gender, or for attending training in gender issues.
  • 8 workshop grants GBP (British Pounds) 4000: For experienced researchers or academic staff who would like to organise a gender workshop. Some topics may include:

Gender mainstreaming in higher education
Developing an institutional gender policy
Leadership
Gendered research
Including gender in proposal writing
Sexual harassment and/or security
The impact of gender roles on professional development

The above topics are only examples and we are also interested in other topics and ideas. We expect all workshops to include reflections and action planning sessions. Support will be given for these follow-up activities, if needed.
